CHICAGO, IL – OCTOBER 26, 2012 – Healthcare Financial Management Association (HFMA) announced today that Anderson Hospital and dbtech are the first to successfully use MAP App’s exclusive Application Programming Interface, or API. MAP App’s API – developed by HFMA – allows providers and vendors to automatically submit timely data updates. It eliminates the need to upload data manually and simplifies the data extraction process required for monthly reports.
This is a first for the industry and the revenue cycle,” says Philip N. Kaplan, Chief Executive Officer, dbtech. “Now, hospitals have first-hand access to benchmark revenue cycle performance against the rest of the industry based on key metrics. Plus, MAP App’s new API is fully integrated with the MEDITECH Patient Accounting System,” Kaplan adds. “This means hospitals using MEDITECH, like Anderson, can seamlessly use MAP App’s API because of dbtech’s system integration, so organizations can pinpoint the areas where they benefit the most from process improvements.”
Dbtech is a leading provider of solutions to manage, share, and protect mission-critical content. More than 150 hospitals rely on dbtech solutions to optimize their revenue cycle. Dbtech’s Ras document management platform provides a central engine to collect and use a wide range of essential data. In this case, Anderson benchmarks its data based on seven industry-standard metrics or HFMA’s MAP Keys.
“MAP App’s API is an efficient and convenient solution that allows us to automatically schedule and pull data without manual intervention. Now we can focus our time and efforts analyzing the data and identifying areas of improvement based on key, industry-standard metrics,” says Linda Costlow, Patient Financial Services Director at Anderson Hospital. Located 20 minutes from downtown St. Louis, Missouri, Anderson is a not-for-profit, acute-care medical facility with 151 beds.
“The MAP App API is a crucial enhancement that HFMA and dbtech are eager to share with the industry, especially with those providers looking to extract key data points from existing, complementary systems, such as MEDITECH,” says Paul Bielat, Vice President, MAP App Product Development, HFMA.
HFMA’s MAP App is a web-based tool that helps hospitals, health systems, and their affiliated physician practices track their revenue cycle performance and benchmark results with customized peer groups. Currently, more than 400 facilities – including Anderson Hospital – are MAP App subscribers creating more robust, apples-to-apples peer comparisons and benchmarking targets.
